NASA Media Launch Pass

Filed under: Memories — Mike Sheehe @ 5:50 pm

Here is my media pass from a video I was producing that we needed a Space Shuttle launch for. It was amazing being that close to the launch site, however, the countdown got to T-minus :15 seconds and was scrubbed.

Disney Quest – Interstitials

This was a very fun project to produce. I worked with Disney marketing to build awareness and show off Disney Quest and to use to help promote a block of kids programming. I decided on going with a game show production, bringing in viewers to compete on the games at the venue. I also cast a duo of two great young actors to host the events and provide bumps, opens, teases, and promos for the event.

I utilized quite a few cameramen and crew to capture the multiple teams competing simultaneously. The production took place during the week and at a non-peak time, so, we pretty much had the run of the place and everyone that was there enjoyed watching the friendly competition.

Another great crew on a fun production.

WCW Working Media Pass

I’ve worked in numerous locations to create broadcast programming and this was one that was both fun and unique. WCW decided to use the Disney MGM Studios (when they actually did production there) in Orlando, Florida to create about a month worth of programming. We utilized New York Street on the backlot to set up the main stage and audience seats. The actors/athletes were shot all over the backlot for their story-lines. It was a grueling week or so of shooting, but, we somehow managed to stay away from getting the infamous Florida rain to delay production.

The crew and talent were some of the greatest people to work with. No matter what type of image wrestling/sports entertainment has, most of the talent is amazingly professional and will do anything to get the product right. The actors/athletes took direction well and were very cordial.

It was cool to meet some of the people that were starting out in the sports entertainment business and to see them become mega-superstars years later.

Florida Marlins: Billy’s Bunch

This is a screenshot from a graphics package for a Florida Marlins kids program. Kids programming, promotions, and graphics packages are always a great deal of fun to do since you can go way out of the box and have fun with them. This package used a combination of live actors on greenscreen, 3D animation, and 2D motion graphics.

Red Lobster Contest Cross Promotion

Red Lobster wanted to partner with our network and NBA programming to cross-promote their restaurants. As always seems the case, there was limited time to get the spots together for air. I wanted a “pirate broadcast” look, so, we took over our engineering department, scattered some loose parts around, and brought in talent to be “the hacker.” Once we were done with shooting, the material was then edited into one of our episodic promos, breaking into the promo using static from a badly positioned satellite receiver, The spots did well, created buzz, and all partners were happy.

Here is a still from a Universal Studios commercial that I worked on. This commercial was used to promote their yearly Mardi Gras event, where they bring in headline talent for concerts.

Nike – Warriors

I DID NOT DO THIS SPOT. I’M POSTING FOR INSPIRATION ONLY.

I’m amazed that they took the chance and made this spot, I don’t believe that many companies would. Nike has an amazing team that brands like few other companies.

This commercial, love it or hate it, captures your attention. It is one of those “what the…?” moments that makes many people rewind their DVR to check it out again.

Tee It Up Ohio

Here’s a still from a program graphics package that me and a business partner created. The package was created in full 1080p resolution and is visually stunning when viewed at full resolution. it was a fun and unique concept for golf programming, blending beauty shots of lush greens with a “Sports Science” feel.

All Star Cafe – Good Tastes

I did a great deal of promotion and marketing with the team at All-Star cafe, so, when a partner and I were looking for a location to shoot a pilot episode of a series that concentrates on high profile restaurants, we choose the All-Star Cafe.

Here’s a still from the show we did at the All-Star Cafe, the staff was gracious and helpful and the show has gotten great reception from sponsors and broadcasters.
